Anti-Drug Body To Receive Award

Begawan - The National Anti-Drug Association of Brunei (Basmida)
will receive an award for their youth programmes in People's
Democratic Republic of Laos, at the Asean Youth Day Awards.
Representing the non-governmental organisation is one of its members, Hj Mohammad Faizul Shah Neol Hj
Mohd Ja'afar left for Laos yesterday. Accompanying him is an officer
from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
"We received this award because of
our youth programmes on drug awareness in Brunei.
"We also send our youths to
workshops out of Brunei and a few more will be attending them in the
future," said Linda Aini Abdullah, Basmida's honorary secretary.
She said that Mohammad Faizul will
not only receive the award, but also to present papers on Basmida's
initiatives and past and future projects. She also extended
Basmida's gratitude to the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports for
their financial and moral support throughout the years.
"We are a non-profit organisation
and without the support from the ministry, we wouldn't have been
able to carry on with our projects as we did' in the past years,"
she said.

Hjh Masni Hj Mohd Ali, the President of Basmida, said that she would
like to see more youth to come forward and participate in Basmida
activities.
According to Linda, youth members
in Basmida consist of not only former addicts, but also those who
are keen on venturing to spread their drug awareness to their peers.-- Courtesy of
