Basmida Honoured Sea Youth Day

Begawan - Basmida, the National Anti-Drug Association of
Brunei Darussalam will be honoured with the Asean Youth Day Award
that marks another milestone in its list of recognitions for the
many anti-drug activities that the association carries under the
strong leadership of its president, Datin Hajah Masni binti Haji
Mohd Ali.
Representing Basmida for the Asean
Youth Day Meeting (AYDM) XIV and the Asean Youth Day Award
presentation is Awg Haji Mohd Faizul Shah Neol bin Haji Mohd Jaafar,
who will also be presenting papers and conducting an exhibition that
will showcase Basmida's achievements.
Present at the airport to bid
farewell to Hj Mohd Faizul yesterday was Hon Secretary I of Basmida,
Dayang Linda Aini binti Abdullah and Dayang Hajah Ramlah binti Haji
Abdul Ghani, treasurer of Basmida.
Hj Mohd Faizul left for Vientiane
City in Lao, host of the event, yesterday along with the head of
delegation representing Brunei, Awg Hj Mohd Zali Hj Arsad, who is
the Assistant Chief of Youth and Sports Department.
AYDM is observed annually every Aug
8 and was formed to highlight the role and contribution of young
people in Asean towards the development and prosperity of the Asean
region.
Asean member countries take turns
alphabetically to organise the special programme and invite youths
and youth leaders from all Asean countries to commemorate the AYDM
and it was first organised and supported by the Japanese government.
Basmida will host the Asean Youth
Extemporaneous Speaking Competition from Feb 28 till March 3 at
Dewan Raya RTB and the event is being funded by the Singapore Youth
Department with project leader Judy Abdullah and project manager and
coordinators, Linda Ain and Hajah Ramlah.
The programme will be participated
by youths and youth leaders from the 10 Asean member countries. -- Courtesy of Borneo
