Language And Literature Bureau To Hold Illustration Workshop

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Language and Literature Bureau (DBP), Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, will be holding the Children's Book Illustration Workshop during the Brunei Book Fair 2008 in its bid to uncover new talent and increase circulation.

The workshop, which will be held at the Bilateral 3 Room, International Convention Centre from February 29 until March 2, will be sponsored by Brunei Shell Petroleum Sdn Bhd, HSBC and Hua Ho Department Store.

Hajah Siti Zaleha Hj Kaprawi, the workshop's deputy chairperson said that DBP has identified some 25 budding talents with the help of the Co-Curriculum Department, Ministry of Education, to participate in the workshop.

"However members of the public may contact Dayang Norhayati Hj Md Yusof at DBP for more details on the workshop, she said.

She added that facilitators for the workshop include officers from DBP, namely Hjh Nortijah Hj Mohd Hassan, Hjh Siti Zaleha and Hjh Ahismah Hi Abd Rashid.

At the event, participants will be required to complete illustrations inspired by five titles, which are My Beautiful Brunei, Hari Raya Visit for Tini and Amir, My Kite Flies High, Ma, Give Me the Cake and Awang Aji Went to a Feast.

She said that at the end of the workshop, five participants would be chosen to receive cash and children's books.
