Stamp Corner To Open At Post Office

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Philathelic Unit, Planning and Development Business Section of the Postal Service Department will set up a SODAkids Corner starting Feb 29 at the General Post Office, Stamp Gallery in the capital.

The SODAkids Corner will guide members on the hobby of collecting stamps and matters related to it.

Registration to become a member is $10. Those who become SODAkids members before Feb 9, 2008 will get a stamp collector's starter set that contains one set of stamps, one set of First Day Cover and a miniature sheet.

Meanwhile, the Stamp Collecting and First Day Cover competition will be held among SODAkids members. In the Brunei-Muara District, the competition will be held in March.

The winners at the district level will compete at the national level competition to be announced at a later date.

Meanwhile, the Postal Service Department will join the Brunei Book Fair 2008 from Feb 27 — March 7, 2008 at the International Convention Centre in Berakas.

The department's activities during the book fair include a talk on "Guidelines on the establishment of stamp club at schools, colleges, and higher learning institutions" on March 5.

Any purchase of philatelic products during the fair will allow visitors to join any quiz prepared by the organiser, which will award winners with attractive prizes.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
