Health Screening For Civil
Servants

Begawan - The Ministry of Health yesterday embarked on an
integrated health screening and health promotion for the civil
service.
It is being held in conjunction
with 100 years of health service in Brunei.
Present were the Special Duties
Officer cum the Head of Secretariat of the Programme, Dato Paduka Dr
Flj Abdul Latif bin Hj Ibrahim, working committee members and
programme participants.
Dato
Paduka Dr Hj Abdul Latif made a briefing on the proceedings and
purpose of the programme to permanent secretaries and deputy
permanent secretaries at the Ministry of Health. Each participant
was presented with equipment for the upcoming health screening from
Feb 9 until Feb 13.
The programme aims to screen public
servants for non-communicable diseases, hypertension and eye and
oral health, increase knowledge on
chronic non-communicable diseases related to lifestyles, seek early
treatment and counselling regarding health, instil health awareness,
make them realise health care is a collective responsibility, to
lead a productive and better life. The diseases include diabetes,
colon cancer, coronary diseases, kidney failure, blood pressure etc.
Its mission is to promote a healthy
lifestyle in the civil service, enhance productivity, improve
individual civil servants and reduce medical costs and use. Its
vision is to integrate health promotion concepts into every element
of civil service as part of wider integration of health promotion in
the community.
The programme expects to increase
awareness on health and a healthy lifestyle, and make each ministry
aware of the value of healthy and active employees.
The long term
gain is to have healthier and active civil servants and Bruneians
