LLRC FT Stun Wijaya For Semifinals
By Alex How
Bandar Seri
Begawan - LLRC FT defeated Wijaya FC 3-2 in a thrilling
quarterfinal match of the Brunei League Cup at Balapan field last
night.
Md
Shah Hafiz bin Kipli's second half goal sealed the game for LLRC FT
and sent the Premier Two team from Belait to the semifinals.
LLRC
stunned Wijaya in the 5th minute through playmaker Safuan bin Juhar.
Safuan received a brilliant through ball from his teammate and sent
it to the back of the net.
Wijaya FC, 2nd from the bottom of Premier
One, looked disjointed in midfield and found it hard to penetrate
into the LLRC defence. The closest chance came in the 20th minute
when Sofri Yahya of Wijaya volleyed the shot high above the bar.
After the restart, Wijaya came out
as a different team and slowly gained their composure.
Wijaya
pressed forward for an equalising goal against LLRC who seemed to
play much of the game behind the ball.
LLRC's
keeper Ahmad SazarinAhmad Sabli was forced to pull up some great
saves from the re-energised Wijaya strikers.
Wijaya's
effort was paid off when Sofri knocked in the equaliser from close
range in the 55th minute. LLRC restored the lead in the 64th minute
when Md Azri bin Jebri met Ak Noorasmawi Pg Hj Rush's cross to make
it 2-1.
Four minutes later, Wijaya leveled
the game for the second time when skipper Zulkefly Duraman headed in
a well-taken Jamrin Hj Johari's free kick.
In the 85th minute, LLRC FT's Md
Shah Hafiz controlled a high cross from the right and rounded off a
defender in the penalty box before coolly blasting it in to win 3-2. -- Courtesy of Borneo
