Two Brunei FIFA Futsal Referees At World Tourney

Bandar Seri Begawan - Two FIFA Brunei futsal referees officiated at the just concluded KL World 5's Futsal held at Stadium Negara, Kuala Lumpur from Jan 29 to Feb 3.

Hj Dasnan Hj Abd Rahman and Junaidi Serudin'of Brunei Referee Association and Brunei Darussalam Football Association were both assigned by Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) to officiate at the prestigious meet.

"It was a great experience for us and a privilege to be part of the refereeing team throughout the tournament," said Hj Dasnan.

"It is a great exposure for us and a great challenge too," added the experienced Brunei futsal referee who was the 3rd official for the Argentina-Brazil final match. Brazil went on to lift the cup by demolishing Argentina 4-0.

"These are world class players, they know the rules well and they will protest if we make an error in our judgment," he said.

Junaidi echoed on the comments made by his counterpart as they have gained valuable experience from the exposure in the event.

"Throughout this competition, we do not allow any mistakes or errors to be made, else we will be in trouble," said Junaidi.

Junaidi was the main referee for the plate final between Holland and Iran. Iran won the plate tournament after beating Holland 2-1.

Both referees proved to have kept up to their reputation as they did not encounter any big protest in the tournament.
