All Is Well With Nissan 350Z In
Bruneis, Firm Reassures
By Izam Said Ya'akub
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Nissan 350z owners in Brunei have been reassured
that they will be contacted should their cars face issues similar to
those in America. The issue which is only specific to the 2007 model
of 350z cars had initially caused concern amongst Bruneian owners,
but a spokesperson from Boustead Sdn Bhd has reassured that they
will be notified once they are supplied with further information.
"We will contact the owners if
there is news from Japan regarding their vehicles," said the
spokesperson.
The cars in Brunei differ from
their left hand drive counterparts, and so far there are only a few
examples of the 2007 car equipped with the manual transmission here
in Brunei.
Nissan North America has issued a
voluntary service campaign on specific 2007 350Z cars, for an issue
with the clutch hydraulic system in the six speed manual version of
the car. Nissan had discovered that on certain vehicles the clutch
slave cylinder was not manufactured appropriately, resulting in the
operating force of the clutch pedal to be light, and in some cases,
improper clutch operation.
Local owners of the sport scar
first heard of the news on January 16, 2008, when a car owner in
North America posted the information online. "We had read about the
news online, and there are a handful of the owners here with the HR
engine, (2007 model)" said one owner who wished to remain anonymous.
The car has garnered a following all
over the world for offering old school sports car thrills after
Nissan took a no nonsense approach in the development of its iconic
Z car that first arrived on the scene in the late sixties. In Brunei
the manual version of the car has become the sought after
specification, after the initial cars to arrive here were
automatics.-- Courtesy of
