PPPMB Urges Members To Avoid
Corruption
By Rosli Abidin Yahya
Bandar Seri
Begawan - The president of the Federation of Brunei Malay
Entrepreneurs (PPPMB) called on members not to indulge in
corruption, in their haste to secure projects.
This call is in line with His
Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's titah
to have zero tolerance on corrupt practices.
In his welcoming speech at an
executive committee and presidential advisory council meeting held
at the Royal Brunei Golf Club in Berakas last Saturday afternoon,
PPPMB president, Awg Hj Osman Hj Omar, said the survival of a
population depends upon the commitment for reform and perseverance
in fighting corruption.
"Without such struggle, a nation
will enter a declining process, with loss of credibility, strength,
honour and respect. It may also lose identity, character and
personality.
"Corrupt practices will instill
fear in foreign investors from investing in this country."
He urged members to be sincere and
carry out business activities in good faith towards supporting the
Sultanate's National Development Plan (RKN) 2007 to 2012.
"The federation proposes the
setting-up of an entrepreneurship ministry, or at least an agency,
mainly to support businessmen and their commercial activities in
this country," he said. He stated that the federation will be
joining the investment and trade delegation of the Ministry of
Industry and Primary Resources to Kuching, Sarawak, from March 24 to
27. The trade journey will then continue to Pontianak, West
Kalimantan. Members who are interested in joining the trade and
investment delegation may contact Hj Yusof Tahlil at 8823934. -- Courtesy of Borneo
