Working Towards A Cleaner, Greener Environment

Kuala Belait - For a cleaner and greener environment, a group of school leavers from Sayyidina Ali Secondary School, called `Green Envoys', Sunday morning held a beach-cleaning campaign at the vicinity of Jubilee Recreational Park Kuala Belait.

With a slogan "Green Cause for the Lost Cause", the Green Envoys organised the campaign for the first time to gather students and youths so they would develop a sense of responsibility in taking care of the environment.

According to a member of the Green Envoys, the activity was part of a community service. It was aimed at raising awareness and encourages people to take greater care of the environment.

The day began with aerobic exercises, led by Dang from NemFitness Studio. This was followed by the, cleaning campaign along the Kuala Belait beach shoreline.

The campaign was also participated by students from Perdana Wazir Secondary School and was supported by the Seria Oil and Gas Discovery Centre.

Awang Iskandar bin Hj Alias, Head of OGDC, said these initiative will serve as exemplary models for all youths to take care for the environment, as well as be involved in activities that would benefit the community. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
