Meet Permanent Secretary
By Aemy Azlena
Bandar Seri
Begawan - The Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of
Religious Affairs, Dato Paduka Hj Abdul Rahman Hj Mohiddin,
yesterday lauded the hard work and dedication of the 15 people who
are involved in the Youth Development Centre Special Programme
during a meeting at the Teratai Hall of the Ministry of Religious
Affairs.
The permanent secretary also shared
some words of wisdom with them and encouraged them to do their best
if they found themselves placed in jobs with duties that differed
from what they had studied.
The participants were also briefed
by Wardi Hj Mohammad Ali, the Acting Assistant Director of
Administration, Ministry of Religious Affairs, and Pg Hj Bahrom Pg
Hj Bahar, the Secretary of Brunei Islamic Council.
The 15 people involved in the
special programme, which began in November 2007, took part in a
number of courses such as baking, catering, sewing, embroidery,
welding, hair styling and management at the Youth Development
Centre.
The special programme is managed by
the Ministry of Religious Affairs Special Programme Secretariat with
assistance from the Youth Development Centre, Ministry of Culture,
Youth and Sports.
One of the aims of the programme is
to decrease the number of recipients of the `Asnaf Zakat' fund in
Brunei by equipping them with the necessary skills to be
self-reliant and successful.
Although the programme is currently
only for residents in the Brunei-Muara District, the Secretariat of
the Special Programme hopes to one day extend the programme to other
districts if the public response is good.
