‘Pot Luck’, CNY Favourite
Bandar Seri
Begawan - It is the time of the year again when family
members gather for that once a year Chinese New Year celebration.
In Brunei and anywhere else in the
world, a festive season will not be complete without traditional
festive dishes. In this case, the customary 'Yee Sang', shark's fin
soup, abalone, fish maw, steamboat and other Chinese cuisine are
among the must-have dishes.
A new Chinese New Year dish called
Pot Luck or 'Pen Cai' has hit the town to rival popular traditional
Chinese New Year favourites.
Originally from Hong Kong, 'Pen Cai',
which literally means 'basin food', is a traditional Hakka dish
served during festive seasons in the Hong Kong countryside.
Though it's relatively new, it has
made its way to other parts of the world including Brunei, gaining
popularity as one of the 'must-have' Chinese New Year dish.
However, not many eateries offer
this traditional delicacy but food critics and fans can get hold of
it at I-Lotus Restaurant situated in Kg Rimba.
Only available throughout this
festive month, the I-Lotus 'Yuan Yang' Treasure Pot Luck consists of
a pot filled with layers of Chinese delicacies like abalone, sea
cucumber, dried oyster, dried scallops, fish maw, roast duck,
chicken, prawn, 'fatt choy' and sea bass.
According to the owner, this is an
ideal dish for takeaway during this festive season for the
convenience of those who do not have time to cook.
Priced at $368,
it is perfect for a family reunion.
The 'Yuan Yang' Treasure Pot
Luck is also available for dine in and the bonus is customers who
order this delicacy two days in advance are entitled to a
complimentary Shark's Fin Soup for 10.
Not forgetting other traditional
favourite delicacies, I-Lotus also offers 'Yee Sang' in choices of
abalone, pear and smoked salmon.
There is also the Chinese New Year
Special Set Menus that offers eight to 10 course meals, ideal for
families who wish to dine out.
Business hours remain unchanged for
the festive season and outside catering is also available for open
houses.
