Chinese Minister Tours Bruneian
Landmarks

Begawan - Mr Yang Jiechi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of
the People's Republic of China, continued his official visit to the
Sultanate by touring a number of landmarks in Brunei Darussalam
yesterday.
During his first tour, Mr Yang and
his delegation viewed the Water Village from a cruise boat, which
started its journey from the old Customs Wharf in the capital.
Present to welcome Mr Yang were
Brunei's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade II Pehin Orang Kaya
Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng, Brunei-Muara District
Officer Dato Paduka Haji Md Yussop bin Bakar and other officials.
Accompanying Mr Yang and his delegation was Madam Tong Xiaoling, the
Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam.
After the boat cruise, the Minister
of Foreign Affairs and Trade II hosted a luncheon at his residence
in Kg Salar.
In the afternoon, Mr Yang was taken
on a tour of the Brunei Museum and the Royal Regalia.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of
the People's Republic of China is on a three-day official visit to
Brunei Darussalam that started on February 2.
On Saturday, His Majesty the Sultan
and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to receive Mr
Yang in an audience at the Istana Nurul Iman.
His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed
Bolkiah, Brunei's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, also
received Mr Yang at the Balai Penghadapan, Bukit Kayangan, after
which HRH Prince Mohamed Bolkiah hosted a dinner in Mr Yang's honour. -- Courtesy of Borneo
