Music Workshop Ends On High Note

Begawan - The Music Lessons and Dance Workshop yesterday came
to a close at the Kampong Bebuloh multi-purpose hall.
Present as guest of honour was
Brunei-Muara District Office Special Duties Officer Rosdin bin Hj
Abd Aziz.
Also in attendance were Mukim
Pengkalan Batu Penghulu Hj Tahir bin Hj Tarip, Bebuloh Ketua Kampung
Mohd Said bin Tundak, Bisaya Cultural, Arts and Heritage Body
(Kampong Bebuloh) Chairman Manang bin Silai, Bebuloh Village Council
Committee member, village leaders and residents from the area.
In his speech, the guest of honour
congratulated the organising committee on the success of the event,
highlighting the tradition inherited from one generation to the
other.
He also thanked Bebuloh Village
Leader Said bin Tundak and the Bisaya Cultural, Arts and Heritage
Body for their contributions.
The day saw the workshop
participants - who are 18 years and below - gaining an insight into
traditional music and dances. They were taught the 'gandang parang,'
'gandang sayau,' `Alai Berpadi', 'tarian pustangan' and the 'tarian
kipas.'
Dressed in Bisaya costumes, the
girls donned the `baju kebamban,' while the boys slipped on the 'baju
asli.'
Following the dance presentation,
the guest of honour presented certificates and prizes to the
participants, before trying his hands at the musical instruments.
The event saw 42 participants led
by six musical instructors, namely Linggau Agal, Yahsau Ekoi, Limbun
Yaba, Doming Yalak, Braim Galis and Ibrahim Abdullah.
Meanwhile, the dance instructors
were Diana Edmund Enak, Nuri Yusof, Suzie Limbun and Rozana Doming. -- Courtesy of Borneo
