Top ‘O’ Levels Achievers Meet The
Press
By Ahmed Shaheeb
Bandar Seri
Begawan - The cream of the crop from Chung Hwa Middle School
in the capital gathered in the school's newly opened library to talk
to the media about their success in last year's Cambridge `O' Levels
examination.
The lively young teenagers seemed
excited about the future and at the same time modest about their
achievement as all of them obtained 10 `O' Levels.
Among the top
achievers are Tiong Ying Hee, 16; Sung Yoke Khee, 17; Supatra Lee,
16 and Joyce Ling Ning, 16.
Tiong
Ying Hee shared with the Bulletin her secret to success. She said
she had been gearing up for the examination for the last two years.
She did not take the June exams like others because she thought the
trial exams were adequate in terms of practice.
She added that she
studied two hours a day after school on top of the tuition she went
to.
Her advice to others was don't
crave for tests as subjects like Mathematics and Science really need
understanding rather than memorising.
Another top achiever is the demure
Sung Yoke Khee who said she spent a lot of time studying. She added
that she started her intensive study during graduation exams. She
found the trial exams helpful as well. It was both a good
preparation and indication of how well she was doing in her studies.
Pleased with her results, she said
she studied seven hours a day in the days leading up to the exams.
Listening in class, paying
attention to the teacher and making your own notes was her advice to
others as they greatly attributed to her success.
When asked about her plans for the
future, she said, "For the moment I want to go to Maktab Duli. I
hope I get in."
She said she wanted to go into the
field of medicine. "I'm very interested in medicine, especially
pharmacy." -- Courtesy of Borneo
