Ministry Holds Maal Hijrah Celebration

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Ministry of Development and its departments held a Maal Hijrah celebration yesterday.

The guest of honour at the event was its deputy minister, Dato Paduka Dr Hi Mat Suny Hj Mohd Hussein. Others present were the ministry's permanent secretary and its deputy.

A talk entitled "Tunas Bangsa Berakhlak Al-Quran" (Morals of Nation's Youths based on Al-Quran) was presented by a Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali lecturer, Dr Shahibudin Laming.

Dr Shahibudin spoke on several matters, including Prophet Muhammad's journey to Madinah in the company of youths and women, whose sole purpose was to carry the prophet's timeless message. "Youths who possess bright ideas and ambitions ought to be educated and nurtured according to the teachings of the Al-Quran," he concluded. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
