Minister Of Education Tours Two Schools

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Minister of Education, Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Hj Awg Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Hji Mohamed Taib, visited Pengkalan Batu Primary School yesterday, where the minister stressed the need for a school to be efficient in planning co-curriculum programmes, and to provide adequate facilities along with appropriate guidance and instruction.

The working visit by the minister began with a briefing delivered by the principal of the school, Cikgu Awg Hj Umar B Hj Mohammad, who described the administrative structure, strengths of students and teachers, teaching and learning facilities, as well as academic and nonacademic programmes to be implemented.

The minister also witnessed gymnastic activities by Primary Six students and took a closer look at the reading activities for Primary Four students at the Resource and Library Room.

The minister then toured Sayyidina Hassan Secondary School where the principal of the school, Cikgu Hjh Suriani bte Hj Norhashim, delivered a briefing on the background of the school, its academic achievements and the challenges faced by the school.

At the school, the minister also held a dialogue with the heads of departments and teachers, pertaining to the 21st Century National Education System. He also noted the increasing school populations and hoped that schools could limit the number of students in their respective classrooms to ensure that the school administrations and teachers could execute their responsibilities properly.

During the visit, the minister was accompanied by the Deputy Minister, Permanent Secretary and senior officers from the Ministry of Education.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
