Local Indicted For Thefts
By Malai FadleyRizal and Rol Ezam

Bandar Seri Begawan - A 27-year-old local was jailed for eight months yesterday after pleading guilty to several thefts before the Bandar Magistrate's Court.

Hasbollah bin Husaini stole a grass cutter belonging to an 84-year-old man from his home in Tutong on January 26 for the first count.

Two days later, as stated in the second charge, the defendant went to a staff housing area of a local company in Lumut, and stole a gas cylinder from the kitchen of the workers' quarters.

The defendant sold the grass cutter for $50 to a person in Jalan Pandan, Kuala Belait.

The defendant also tried to sell the gas cylinder to a person in Jalan Singa Menteri but upon seeing the defendant's suspicious behaviour, the person immediately called the police, which led to the defendant's arrest minutes later.

All the stolen items were recovered.
