Making Youth More Aware Of Al-Quran

- The al-Quran Youth forum aims to create a better understand
ing of the holy book and at the same time provide as a practising
ground to improve upon the youths' oratory skills.
The al-Quran Youth Forum is engaged
in the strengthening the role of youth in society.
The forum was held yesterday
evening at the Rancangan Perumahan Negara Kampung Bukit Beruang
Mosque, Tutong, with the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of
Religious Affairs, Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Rahman Haji Mohiddin
serving as the guest of honour.
It was emphasised during the forum
that the participants will not only have a better understanding of
the al-Quran themselves but will also provide a better understanding
of it for other youths by giving examples.
The topics of discussion were
specifically based on the Surah Ad-Dhuha and its meaning.
An example of what they discussed
in the forum was the development of youth and the role of orphans
and how society today should be concerned about the youths.
The panels of judges were made up
of religious scholars.
The youths were guided prior to the
forum with their, assigned "mentors", usually an officer from the
Mosque Affairs Department, who have the responsibility to ensure the
contents of their talk will revolve around the stated surah.
The participants were mainly made
up of youths not only who are still studying but also those who are
employed.
The event was organised by the
Mosque Affairs Department under the Ministry of Religious Affairs in
conjunction with the celebration of the new Hijrah year 1429 and
Islamic Holy days, according to the Head of the Imarah Section (Takmir)
at the Department of Syariah Affairs, Hj Amir Hisham Hj Masri.
He
also stated that the forum is a continuation of the Surah Ad-Dhuha
4, 5 and 6 from the same forum that was held in Bangar at the Utama
Mohammad Salleh Mosque, Temburong.
The role of the youth of Brunei is
considered as a popular topic of discussion this year as it is also
connected with the National Day celebrations. -- Courtesy of
