13 Grads To Join Incubator
Programme
By Sobrina Rosli
Bandar Seri
Begawan - The Business School will take under its wing 13
vocational technical education and training graduates for its third
Business Incubator Programme, which starts next week.
Pg Norashikin Pg Dr Amir Md Yussof,
an entrepreneurship officer, said the 13 will be taught
entrepreneurship, noting the lack of entrepreneurial awareness among
Bruneians.
"We want to have a role in changing
the mindset of the youth today where they could consider
self-employment. I see it happening only through the process of
change, to develop the culture of entrepreneurship to educate and
raise interests."
The participants will go through
three phases. The first phase aims to raise entrepreneurship
awareness by encouraging participants to start a business. The
second phase will include the development of a business plan through
commercial and Industrial exposure as well as relevant government
agencies handling business operations.
Pg Norashikin said in phase two, a
panel of entrepreneurs will advise the participants on their
business plan.
Upon successful completion of the
first two phases, participants can then proceed to the third phase,
where they would be given the opportunity to start their own
business in an incubator unit.
The school facilitates the
programme, while providing facilities such as a conference room for
corporate meetings and to provide mentorship and business
counselling. The school has 12 incubator units for early stages of
business operations.
Bankers and veteran entrepreneurs
are also invited to share their experiences with the students.
Eligible participants need to
acquire Brunei Darussalam Technical and Vocational Education Council
qualifications from technical and vocational institutions.-- Courtesy of
