Bandar Seri
Begawan - The Language and Literature Bureau yesterday
launched two buses as part of its mobile library services at the
Youth Development Centre in Lambak.
"A successful nation is one that is
able to produce and utilise the latest technologies.
"In order to make use of
technology, a nation needs to be knowledgeable and knowledge is
acquired through reading books," the Director of Language and
Literature Bureau said in his welcoming remarks during the blessing
ceremony.
The event was officiated by the
Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Dewa
Major General (R) Dato Seri Pahlawan Awang Hj Mohammad bin Haji
Awang Mohamad bin Hj Daud.
According to him, a variety of
books are available at the Language and Literature Bureau (DBP)
Library and some of these books are found in the DBP mobile library.
The slogan for the new buses that
read `Membaca Nadi Kejayaan Bangsa' (Reading- the Rhythm of a
Nations' Success) highlights the significance of the reading culture
in order to be a successful nation.
"The slogan that is written on the
sides of the buses will be seen around the country and hopefully
will be able to spread the positive message to encourage a reading
culture amongst the nation," he added.
The event was highlighted with a
ribbon cutting and traditional blessing act – ‘Menepung Tawar’ - of
the new DBP buses officiated by the chief guest at the event.
