Be Wary Of New Online Scam
By Rosli Abidin Yahya

Bandar Seri Begawan - A man nearly lost £2,200 (about B$6,600) after he received an e-mail asking him to send the money to his friend who had lost all of his money after being mugged in London.

The man, who wished to remain anonymous, told the Bulletin that the e-mail turned out to be a scam. He was worried that scammers were using his friend's real e-mail address to con unsuspecting victims.

Fortunately, the would-be victim called his friend up before transferring the money. He was shocked to find out that his friend had in fact not left his house in Brunei and was well.

He hoped that members of the public would not fall victim to online scams, as scammers seem to be masking themselves behind the real e-mail addresses of unsuspecting victims. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
