Minister Visits Ports Dept, Muara Container Terminal

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Minister of Communications, Pehin Dato Seri Setia Hj Awg Abu Bakar Hj Apong, conducted a working visit to the Ports Department and Muara Container Terminal yesterday to take a closer look at the daily operations at Muara Port.

Upon arrival, the minister and other senior officers from the ministry were greeted by Hj Bujang Hj Tingkong, the Acting Director of Ports.

The Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Communications, Hj Ibrahim Hj Hassan, was among those who accompanied the minister.

After being briefed on the progress of various national development projects, Pehin Dato Hj Awg Abu Bakar held a dialogue with officers of the Ports Department.

The minister later proceeded to observe the operations of the Muara Container Terminal and also visited the office of ASAFF MCT Sdn Bhd, the interim operator of the Muara Container Terminal.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Communications, it is the objective of the ministry to ensure the creation and sustainability of conducive business environment at Muara Port, as shipping services can be considered as the most important factor in realising the vision to become the Hub Port for the BIMP-EAGA area. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
