30 New Cases In Last Three Days

Bandar Seri Begawan - As many as 30 theft cases have been recorded over the last three days including two car break-ins and the loss of a bag containing important documents, the police said.

Nine theft cases were recorded at various places including the Rimba housing scheme, a jewellery shop in Lambak Kanan, Kg Pasai in Sengkurong, Kg Tanjong Nangka, Serusop Complex, JIn Mumong and Lumut housing area in Belait and Kg Sungai Paku in Telisai.

Items missing include batteries, a necklace, six gas cylinders, four grass cutters, an aluminium cutter, two drilling items and $850 in cash. A man and a woman have been detained in connection with the cases.

Nineteen more thefts took place in Kg Mata-Mata, a government office at the Old Airport, a shop in Kiulap, Kg Rimba school, Pandan 4 in Belait, Kg Rimba, Kilanas mosque area, electrical site in Batu Bersurat, UBD room, Kg Selayun, Jln Serasa, a supermarket in Kiulap, Jln Bebatik-Kilanas, Kg Pengkalan in Gadong, Kg Lambak Kiri, Pengkalan Sibabau generator station, Kg Kapok, Pandan 1 and in Jln Mumong.

Items found missing were five hand phones, two radio sets, a DVD player, a rice cooker, two pen drives, two lap tops, a SIM card, $393, rupiah 70,000, RM280, 140 sterling pounds, important documents, electrical cable, a 21-inch TV, a gas cylinder, a bicycle, a Sony digital camera, two grass cutting equipment, two bags containing $272 and a handbag containing important documents. A man has been detained in connection with one of the theft cases.

Other cases include two thefts, with two men aged in the 30s and 40s detained, two rape cases, six assault cases and a vandalism case. Four Labour cases, four Customs cases, eight Misuse of Drugs cases, three immigration cases were also recorded.

Meanwhile, 37 road accidents occurred including 23 car crashes, 12 self-accidents, a pedestrian knocked down by a car and a self-accident involving a motorcyclist.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
