Firm Gets European Award

Begawan - Timbertech Sdn Bhd, a local concrete pile maker,
has won the International Arch of Europe Award in the Platinum
Category during the International Business Initiative Directions
(BID) Quality Convention in Frankfurt on February 19.
The 33rd International Arch of
Europe Convention Frankfurt 2007 was aimed at recognising
participants' commitment to quality in industrial production and
services.
Jose E Prieto, Executive President
of BID, said: "The awarded companies are symbols of commitment to
leadership, technology and innovation, which make them models for
other companies of their sectors."
Hamidon
Hj Md Said from the Public Works Department said that, "This award
is an example for other companies and organisations to lead the
country to excel internationally."
Timbertech
Sdn Bhd is one of the leading suppliers of cement piles to
government projects, including the upcoming Tutong library, the
RTB's studio in Tutong, the Maraburong Jail Phase II and the Islamic
Centre of Universiti Brunei Darussalam. - In 2003, Timbertech's
turnover was $2,852,194, but rose to $15,543,251 in just a span of
three years. Its in-house staff comprises only nine people, but it
out sources jobs to 69 workers.
