Five Detained In Routine Inspection

Bandar Seri Begawan - Five immigration violators were detained during yesterday's routine inspection, conducted by the Law Enforcement Section, Department of Immigration and National Registration.

The operation, carried out from 9.30-11 am, targeted a building in -Jalan Tasek Lama in the capital.

Four officers, led by the Acting Senior Immigration Officer, took part in the raid which led to the apprehension of three Malaysians and two Filipinos.

The Malaysians, who had no documents on them, were caught at a building in Jalan Tasek Lama. They later admitted they had been staying in the country illegally, but not before one of them - a 49-year-old male - attempted to escape arrest by hiding in a closet.

The trio from Sampoerna, Sabah were transported to the Law Enforcement Office for further investigations.

Meanwhile, two Filipinos, who had no documents on them, were also taken to the Law Enforcement Office to assist in the investigation. Their immigration passes were later found to have expired. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
