BASMID Spreading The Word On Dangers Of Drugs At Indoor Stadium

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Drugs Eradication Association (BASMIDA) made use of the Brunei Book Fair 2007 in Berakas to spread the word on the dangers of drug abuse to students.

Held at Room 234 of the Indoor Stadium, students listened to heart-breaking stories of former addicts who are now working with BASMIDA to educate others on the scourge of drugs.

Yesterday morning, some 50 students of Nusa Laila Puteri School were briefed by two "Rakan (friends of) BASMIDA" members who told them how drugs destroyed their career and family life.

According to Alias, a spokesperson for BASMIDA, the anti-drugs talks will be delivered daily during the tenday book fair.

The drug prevention programme should not only be placed on the shoulders of BASMIDA, he said.

Parents, teachers, youth and the community should also do their part to spread the word on the dangers of abusing drugs. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
