Sg Liang School Marks National Day, Gets New Headmistress

Kuala Belait - The Sungai Liang Primary School recently held its 23'd National Day celebration.

The event's chief guest, who also presented prizes and certificates, was neither Kasmah Hj Mohammad Nor, the Belait District's Assistant Head of Co-Curriculum Department.

It started with a recital of the Surah Al-Fatihah led by one of the students.

The chief guest then presented the country's flag to the school's scout troops, followed by the singing of the national anthem.

Among the ceremony's highlights were patriotic song performances, a colouring contest for the school's PTA committee members and parents, as well as displays of the students' works to mark the occasion.

According to Acting Headmistress Cikgu Maria Abdullah, the function aimed to foster the spirit of patriotism among schoolchildren.

It was also held in coincidence with the arrival of new Headmistress Cikgu Hjh Zaiton Bongso, who has just been transferred from Bukit Sawat Primary School. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
