Remembering the elderly during CNY
By Liza Mohd
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Eleven senior citizens at the Seria old folks home
were not forgotten as members of the Chinese community celebrated
the Lunar New Year.
The president of the Brunei Chinese
Chamber of Commerce and the newly-appointed registrar of the Chinese
Marriages Bureau of Tutong and Belait, Pehin Bendahari Cina Dato
Paduka Onn Siew Siong, recently made a goodwill visit to the old
folk's home, and cheered the residents there with "ang-pows" and
festive delicacies.
The visit was part of Pehin Onn's
efforts to help the less fortunate in the country.
On Sunday morning, members of the
Foochow Association, led by Chairman Tan Tei Tei, made a similar
visit to the Seria old folks home. They also handed out "ang-pows"
and Chinese New Year titbits for the elders at the home.
