Dancing Lions Entertain Guests At 'Open Houses'

Bandar Seri Begawan - Chinese New Year celebrations were in full swing last weekend with "open houses", giving a chance to relatives and friends of all races to offer New Year greetings to their Chinese friends and relatives.

The Hainanese Association's lion dance troupe was at the "open house" of the managing director of Sullivans Sdn Bhd, Raymond Hong Fan Tse, during the weekend, entertaining a number of guests that included the Administration

Officer at the Belait District Office, Hj Muhammad bin Hj Jumat The lion dance troupe put on another spectacular performance that day at the "open house" of James Hon, the managing director of the JHMM, who is also the former chairman of the Hainanese Association.

A large crowd gathered at the compound of the Hon residence to watch the lion dancers performing to retrieve lettuces and oranges, and before the troupe leader presented Mr Hon with a congratulatory message. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
