Indian association conducts 51 St
AGM

Begawan - The Bandar Seri Begawan Indian Association (BSBIA)
recently conducted its 51st Annual General Body meeting at Institute
Perkhitmatan Awam (IPA).
The meeting was attended by a large
number of members and their families.
Welcoming the gathering in his
presidential address, Dr PS Sugathan touched on the aims and ethos
of BSBIA, one of the oldest associations in Brunei - which has been
registered with His Majesty's government for over 50 years now and
is functioning as an umbrella organisation for all persons of Indian
origin in Brunei.
He highlighted the cordial and
strengthening relations between India and the Indian community on
the one hand, and His Majesty's government and the Bruneian people
on the other.
He implored the members to function
as ambassadors of India in Brunei by their attitudes and actions.
Later, Secretary Sujay Kamat read
out the annual report chronicling the activities and achievements of
BSBIA during 2006. This was followed by the financial statement by
Treasurer Dhiraj Tyagi.
An all-important agenda of the
election of the management committee for the year 2007 was
officiated' by Dr Vasudevan Mangalam as a returning officer.
The meeting came to a close by vote
of thanks by the secretary followed by the national anthem.
A sumptuous dinner followed which
was enjoyed by the members and their families, who also exchanged
pleasantries, reinforced old fellowships and formed new friendships. -- Courtesy of Borneo
