New ‘Milestone’ Books On
Sultanate's Historic Events

Begawan - Two new books on Brunei Darussalam's historic
events entitled "Milestone: 7th Conference of the Asean Ministers
Responsible for Information" and "Milestone: The Reopening of the
State Legislative Council" were presented to representatives of the
diplomatic corps at the Pehin Orang Kaya Shahbandar Conference Room,
Department of Information in Berakas yesterday.
The books are the first
publications written for elite international readership. It is
produced by the Special Affairs Section and issued by the
Information Department.
According to the Acting Director of
Information, Hj Mahrub Hj Murni, the new books add to the
Information Department's growing collection of elite publications.
He said that the books would serve as reference materials for
journalists as well as states and non-state actors.
"Milestone: 7th Conference of the
Asean Ministers Responsible for Information" is a semi-pictorial
that highlights the event when Brunei hosted the Asean Information
Ministers meeting in October 2002.
The "Milestone: The Reopening of
the State Legislative Council", meanwhile, describes the scenario on
September 25, 2004 when the legislature's first sitting was held
after its 21-year absence.
The Information Department will be
publishing a commemorative book about Bandar Seri Begawan soon.
The coffee-table book, which will
touch on the 100-year history of Bandar Seri Begawan, will be
entitled "Riding The Tide". It will trace the development of Bandar
Seri Begawan from its original base in Kampong Ayer to the present
