Youth Programme Launched At Kg Subok

Bandar Seri Begawan - Over 20 people comprising youths and villagers from Kg Subok attended an initiation ceremony for the 'Belia Cinta Tanah Air 2007' programme held at the residence of Kg Subok village head yesterday.

Guest of honour at the event was Brunei-Muara District Officer, Dato Paduka Hj Yussof bin Hj Bakar.

The event, which carried the theme, `Commitment of youths to the public', was organised by the Youth and Sports Department, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.

The event began with the recitation of `Sarah AI-Fatihah' by Mosque Affairs Officer, Ustaz Muzli bin Hj Jumat, followed by speeches from chairman of the programme and the guest of honour. The highlight of the launch was performances by participating youths in the programme.

At the end, the guest of honour was presented with a souvenir by the chairman.

This programme was held in conjunction with the 23rd National Day celebration. The programme aims to inculcate a sense of love for the nation in youths through their participation in community, religious and leadership activities. It is hoped that through such programmes, youths will be instilled with the concept of a being part of the nation and have pride towards the country. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
