UBD To Hold Open Day

Begawan - Universiti Brunei Darussalam will be holding an
open day on February 27 and 28 from 8.30am till 5pm at the
Chancellor Hall of the university.
Each year, UBD holds the `Study at
UBD' where its faculties set up booths for applicants to their
courses and anyone interested in studying with them.
`Study at UBD' offer prospective
students the opportunity to visit UBD before application and usually
takes place in February each year. The open day provides visitors an
insight into life as a student at UBD.
During the open day, visitors will
be able to visit academic departments, take a student-led tour of
the campus, talk to admission staff about entry requirements and
courses offered.
The objective of the event is to
give students a chance to further their studies at UBD, to know the
many programmes offered by the university and entry requirements,
interact with academic officers, course coordinators and lecturers,
and allowing parents to gain an understanding of programmes
available based on their children's qualifications and ambitions.
Applicants as well as their friends
and family are welcome to visit the exhibitions and attend talks to
be held by faculties. Visits to faculties will depend on the number
of interested participants. For further information, contact the

Meanwhile, one of the faculties
that will be participating in the UBD open day is the Faculty of
Business, Economics and Policy Studies (FBEPS).
FBEPS offers courses that provide
skills, knowledge and experience that match with the job market
within the country and even abroad. Such courses include the
Bachelors of Art degrees, which students can choose to major or
minor in the fields of Business and Management, Public Policy and
Administration as well as Economics, a press release from the
faculty stated.
Value-added components of the
faculty's programmes are highly regarded and acknowledged by both
the public and private sectors in the country. These include the
Work-Attachment Programme where students are placed in industry and
government positions. The active Student Body, FBEPS Student
Council, also encourages leadership and participatory involvement
while the infrastructure of the faculty is highly equipped including
lecture rooms with pre-installed projectors and computers, computer
laboratories with access to the Internet, wi-fi access in parts
ofthe faculty and satellite worldwide news on Kristal-Astro at the
faculty's common room.
Postgraduate programmes are also
greatly sought after in the faculty. Interested individuals are
welcome to meet FBEPS staff during the open day regarding these
programmes, which include Master in Business Administration, Master
in Health Policy and Management, Master in Public Policy, Master in
Environmental Management and FBEPS Doctoral programmes.
There will be a tour, limited to 50
people, of the faculty on February 27 at 2pm. Those interested are
required to register their names at FBEPS exhibition booth at the
Chancellor Hall. The tour includes a visit to FBEPS resources,
participation in management games with chances of receiving various
promotional offers by FBEPS sponsors and an afternoon tea with
faculty members. There will also be an FBEPS briefing on February 28
at 2pm at Basement 2 of the Chancellor's Hall, UBD.
The FBEPS exhibition and tour is
sponsored and supported by HSBC, CIMB Investment Bank Bhd, SD Cafe,
Armtrix Enterprise, Hair Rock Salon, and The Natural Source.
