Walkathon Marks 100 Years Of Bandar Development On Land

Bandar Seri Begawan - To commemorate the 100 years of the development of Bandar on land (1906-2006), a walkathon and a colouring competition were held in the capital yesterday.

Joining the walkathon were Minister of Home Affairs, Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Adanan, and his wife, Datin Paduka Hajah Salmah binti Haji Hanafiah, the Auditor General of Brunei Darussalam.

The walkathon, divided into male and female categories, was participated by government officers and staff, members of the BSB Municipal Board, Working Committee for the 100"'year anniversary, and traders in BSB and students.

The colouring competition was divided into three categories, namely, A for 3-5 year olds, B for 6-8 year olds and C for 9-12 year olds.

Category A was won by Noor Mohd Khairullah bin Salam, Category B won by Mohammad Wa'ie bin Md Noor and Category C was won by Nurhuwaida.

The male participants walked along Jalan Mc Arthur, Jalan Sumbiling, Jalan Hj Basir, Jalan Sekolah, Jalan Tasek Lama and Jalan Sultan.

Whereas the female participants took a much shorter route along Jalan McArthur, Jalan Stoney, Jambatan Elizabeth and Jalan Sultan. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
