Seria Food Complex Comes Under
Scrutiny
By Liza Mohd
Seria -
Cooks without proper attire, exposed garbage bins and wet
floors were some of the common problems found by personnel of the
Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Department during an inspection
carried out at the Seria Seri Selera Food Complex, yesterday.
Twenty stalls in the complex were
screened in the operation involving four sections of the department,
namely the Enforcement Unit and the Building Control, Licensing,
Services and Maintenance sections.
The joint internal operation
codenamed 'Operasi Bersepadu Dalaman' was aimed at ensuring that
businesses comply with rules and conditions stated under the
Municipal licence, whilst at the same time reminding stall operators
to promote cleanliness among their employees in terms of attire,
food handling and preparation methods.
The operation was also conducted to
check for illegal renovations, workers' status and all matters
relating to business operations.
Yesterday's inspection was the
third joint internal operation led by the Enforcement Unit, since
the first inspection that was carried out on November 29 last year
at the Kuala Belait wet market and the second, at the Tudong Saji
and Gerai Bunga Simpur on January 23, this year.
The Head of Enforcement Unit said
such operations would not only be restricted to eateries but will
also be extended to other business premises under the jurisdiction
of the Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Department.
He added that the department is
planning more operations in the future. -- Courtesy of Borneo
