CNY Celebrations Enhance Racial
Harmony
By Rosli Abidin Yahya
Bandar Seri
Begawan - The Chinese community in Brunei Darussalam
continued to hold open houses on the second day of the Chinese New
Year celebrations yesterday.
Chinese and non-Chinese visitors
flocked to houses of their relatives and friends to convey their
seasonal greetings.
The visits made by people of all
races and religions showed a high level tolerance among the
different communities living in this country.
Chinese New Year visitors when
interviewed said the tolerance shown among the different races in
the country has earned Brunei much admiration worldwide,
particularly at a time when there is communal and religious strife
in most parts of the world.
"Indeed we are very blessed, and
all Bruneians should be thankful that we live in such a harmonious
country, they said, adding that as in all festivals, Chinese New
Year enables all races in the Sultanate to foster closer
relationships. -- Courtesy of Borneo
