2-in-1 Religious Celebration In Kuala Belait

Kuala Belait - The Belait Religious Affairs Department held a 2-in-1 celebration to honour the Bakti Hijrah 1428 recipient, Awg Abdul Rahman bin Abdullah Sambang, and a conversion ceremony for Awg Sain bin Penter @ Padang and his two children.

Guest of honour at the event was Belait District Officer, Haji Mohammad bin Haji Abd Rahman.

Also present at the ceremony were Minister of Religious Affairs, Pehin Dato Dr Ustaz Haji Awg Mohd Zain, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Dato PadukaHaji lshaaq, directors, senior officers, penghulus, village heads and residents.

The ceremony started with a recital of the Surah al-Fatihah, followed by opening remarks by chairman of the ceremony.

Awang Sam bin Penter @ Padang chose Awang Muhammad Salleh bin Abdullah as his new Islamic name.

His two children would now be known as Awg Muhammad Azrin bin Muhammad Salleh and Awg Muhammad Samsul bin' M uhammad Salleh.

A Dikir presentation was held for the new converts, followed by a souvenir presentation for the Bakti Hijrah 1428 recipient. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
