Ministry celebrates Hijrah 1428

Bandar Seri Begawan - Officials and staff of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and departments under it held a gathering to celebrate New Year Hijrah 1428 yesterday. It was held at the Balai Sarmayuda of the Language and Literature Bureau in Berakas.

In his speech, the Director of Youth and Sports, Hj Matassim Hj Jibah said that Hijrah was no longer just a physical migration from one place to another, as it was when Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) migrated from Mekah to Medina but a move towards more positive thinking.

"People today relate the concept of Hijrah in terms of a change towards a more positive mindset.

"In management, the concept of Hijrah can be translated as `Management of Change' as taught by today's scholars of Modern Management." he said. He added that the function was part of the Youth and Sports department's human resource development training programme for its officers and staff whereby they were required to attend.

A religious talk was delivered by Uztazah Noorizah Abidin from the Islamic Dakwah Centre who discussed the topic "Hijrah because of Allah (SWT)".

Among the guests were Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Dewa Major General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Awg Hj Mohammad Hj Daud, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.  -- Courtesy of The Brunei Times
