By Za'im Zaini
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Over 16,000 people yesterday gathered at Taman Sir
Muda Omar Ali Saifuddien to fine-tune their acts in time for the
upcoming National Day celebrations.
Participating in the rehearsals
were 112 teams including personnel from the Royal Brunei Armed
Forces, Royal Brunei Police Force, other uniformed bodies,
ministries, government departments, private sector, and hundreds of
students.
The grand celebration will be on
February 24.
The rehearsal saw participants
singing the national anthem and later the mounting of the guard-of-honour.
The field was subsequently cleared to make way for the general
assembly, where a number of patriotic songs were belted out.
A march-past and the reading of the
national day oath were later rehearsed.
The colourful performances work
around the theme `Iltizam Memperkasa Keupayaan Bangsa' or
`Commitment Empowering the Nation's Capabilities.'
Meanwhile, a full dress rehearsal
will be held on February 20, starting at 8 am. A joint exercise is
scheduled to be held on February 17 and 21, also commencing at 8 am.
The `Mass Parade Exercise' will be
held on February 22 - starting 8 am.
Members of the public are welcome
