Little Flags-Here, There, Everywhere

Bandar Seri Begawan - Some 30,000 mini national flags will be distributed throughout the country today. The official launch of the mini flags was held yesterday at the Rizqun International Hotel in Gadong.

Attending as the guest of honour was Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Dewa Major General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Hj Mohammad Hj Daud, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.

Pehin Orang Kaya Ratna Setia Dato Setia Awg Abdul Hapidz Pehin Orang Kaya Laksamana Awg Abdul Razak, the chairman of the National Mini Flag Sponsorship Committee, in his speech expressed his gratitude to the sponsors and donors for their contribution.

"The mini national flag programme comes as a reminder of the country's sovereignty which we honour, the freedom we have achieved and the loyalty towards the king and the nation," said the chairman.

He said the presence of flags fixed on thousands of cars in every corner of the country demonstrates the patriotic spirit which encourages Bruneians to exert more effort to further develop the country, be more successful and prosperous.

At the function the mini flags were presented to representatives from all the four district offices and sponsors. The first mini flag was placed on the car owned by the winner of the National Day logo 2007 design contest, Abdul Rahman Mohammad. -- Courtesy of The Brunei Times
