M'sian Deported After Being Caught
Begging In Belait

Begawan - A Malaysian Chinese man was deported from the
country after being caught begging in the Belait town yesterday.
Six enforcement officials from the
Belait Immigration Department conducted a surprise inspection in the
Belait town after tailing the suspect who actively visited shops for
the purpose of collecting donations.
Every person he met agreed to make
a cash donation in exchange for books and papers as a form of
blessing.
Further investigations revealed
that the suspect, who had - just recently entered the country, was
on a visitor's pass.
In a separate inspection carried
out earlier in the day, two Thai nationals were arrested for
breaching the Immigration act, based on a tip-off from members of
the public.
Four Immigration officials
conducted a surprise check on a shop in Seria while the suspects
were carrying out business transactions with customers.
Further inspection revealed that
one of the suspects was holding a sponsorship pass, while the other,
an employment pass stating the person was employed as a printing
technician.
The suspects were also found to be
a married couple.
While serving customers at the
Seria shop, the suspects were found to be conducting business with
customers for the purpose of exchanging baht for Brunei dollars
without proper consent. The suspects may face a compound fine of
$600 under Regulation 15 and 16 of the Immigration law.
Meanwhile, the Immigration
Department thanked the public for the tip-offs in the bid to ensure
peace and safety in the country.
