By Rosli Abidin Yahya
Bandar Seri
Begawan - The association for actors, actresses, dancers and
creative writers, Rumpun Seni Lakon Brunei Darussalam or Rusila
yesterday evening held a tahlil ceremony at the Senjarasa
Restaurant, Jalan Tutong for its members who have passed away.
One ofthe members, Yahya Mat Zin,
died in a road accident in Limbang three months ago while another,
Maddun Hj Jaludin, died on August 11, 2005 because of kidney
failure. The pro-tem head of Rusila, Dk Susilawati Pg DP Hj Damit
presented donations to the widows of the late members.
Meanwhile, Rusila adviser Hj Abd
Rahman Yusof said the Registrar of Societies (ROS) has given the
body permission to function again after years of inactivity. He said
a pro-tem committee has been formed early this month to organise an
annual general meeting - as required by ROS - to enable the
association to elect new office bearers.
"We have also been asked by ROS to
submit reports within two months of the AGM," he said.
Hj
Abd Rahman invited former Rusila members to rejoin the group and
help return it to its former glory. He also invited anyone who is
involved in any aspect of the performing arts, including script
writing, to join the Rusila. "Let us make a pledge to work hard to
bring Rusila back to its glory days where it was always represented
in local and regional performing arts activities," he said.
Another Rusila adviser Hj Johari
Pehin Dato Hj Omar said the association is set to take part in His
Majesty's birthday celebrations in July.
At its prime, members of Rusila
