50 Arms Manufacturers To Take Part In Bridex 2007

Bandar Seri Begawan - Some 50 leading defence manufacturers from around the world will be headed for the sultanate in May this year for the First Inaugural Brunei Darussalam International Defence Exhibition and Forum (Bridex 2007) to hold at the International Convention Centre in Berakas.

The event, which will open on May 31, will have a two-day forum to be attended by professionals from various fields related to the defence industry, Brunei's Ministry of Defence said yesterday.

The defence exhibition and forum, which will coincide with the 46th anniversary of the formation of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, will be attended by global business entities, high ranking government defence officials in the region, defence professionals, researchers, foreign delegates, qualified trade visitors, defence analysts, service personnel, local private companies and journalists.

The presence of high profile and reputable representatives will open up a valuable opportunity to establish networking between local and global counterparts, specifically in the defence industry business. Themed "Investing in Technology", the event will have three main areas, namely homeland security, C41SR (Command & Control, Communication, Computer, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) and UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles).

The exhibition provides an opportune venue for defence manufacturers and suppliers, regionally and globally, to explore the potential of establishing defence business ventures and the development of the local defence industry.

The forum aims to tackle the three niche areas.
