MSD Programme Set To Better Public
Services
By Za'im Zaini
Bandar Seri
Begawan - The Management Services Department (MSD) is set to
hold a customer-friendly services programme, themed "Enhancing
Public Sector Service Delivery", on March 6 at the Plenary Hall,
International Convention Centre in Berakas.
Speaking to the media during a
press conference in Bahirah Building, Jalan Menteri Besar yesterday,
MSD director Awang Sa Bali bin Abas said, "The programme will be
chaired by Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office. There
will also be a panel, comprising permanent secretaries and heads of
government departments, who will respond to questions, complaints
and queries regarding services available. Hopefully, the public will
have a better understanding of government policies following the
programme."
He also said more than 40
departments have been invited to the dialogue session, especially
those who deal directly with the public.
Implementation of the programme is
based on the role of the MSD as a focal point for the public to put
forward their complaints that are related to public services. The
objectives are, thus, to provide a channel for the public to raise
their problems when dealing with government agencies, to elaborate
on governmental policies, processes and procedures, and to show that
the government administration is transparent.
The programme is also aimed at
gathering feedback from participants on services they receive at
government agencies in the hopes of improving these services.
Awang Sa Bali said the Management
Services Department hopes to "ensure that public services are always
top-notch, and the quality of these services exceed the expectation
of the customers. Therefore, the department is planning to hold the
customer service programme annually".
The event, which will be conducted
on March 6 from 7.30 am until noon, will also feature counters for
complaints and to give participants an opportunity to make
individual complaints on services provided by government agencies.
"Should a matter being raised need
further explanation," Awang Sa Bali said, "the Management Services
Department will conduct investigations at relevant departments and
get back to the inquirer as soon as possible."
He also said, "Six hundred
participants are expected to
show up for the programme including
representatives from the private sector, chambers of commerce and
other associations as well as penghulus, village chiefs,
entrepreneurs and residents of Brunei-Muara District."
For those interested in attending
the programme, registration forms can be obtained at Bahirah
Building, Jalan Menteri Besar. Forms must be submitted no later than
February 26. For more information, visit the Management Services
