Brunei To Hold First Ever Defence Exhibition, Forum

Bandar Seri Begawan - Leading defence manufacturer, government defence officials, as well as those in the defence field, will be gathering in the Sultanate for the first inaugural Brunei Darussalam International Defence Exhibition and Forum (BRIDEX 2007), announced the Ministry of Defence yesterday.

BRIDEX will be held in conjunction with the 46th anniversary of the formation of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.

The exhibition, entitled "Investing in Technology", will be held from May 31 to June 2 at the International Convention Centre (ICC), Berakas.

The Ministry of Defence has identified three main areas for the exhibition and forum, namely homeland security; Command and Control, Communication, Computer, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C41SR); and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV).

The exhibition provides an opportunity for defence manufacturers and suppliers, regionally and globally, to explore the potentials of establishing defence business ventures and development in the local defence industry, as well as to establish networks among relevant defence counterparts.

On the other hand, the two-day forum aims to create an interactive discussion through the exchange of knowledge and experiences between relevant experts and government officials, as well as academicians and private sector on the three niche areas, which will be held at ICC.

BRIDEX 2007 anticipates the participation of 50 leading defence manufacturers from around the world.

It will also see the attendance of global business entities, high ranking government defence officials in the region, defence professionals, researchers, foreign delegates, qualified trade visitors, defence analysts, service personnel, local private companies and journalists.

The presence of high profile and reputable representatives opens up a valuable opportunity to establish networking between local and global counterparts, specifically in the defence industry business.
