Rehearsal
By Hj Mohd Nordin & H Bat
Bandar Seri
Begawan - More than 15,000 people including uniformed
personnel, ministries, government agencies, schools and the private
sector yesterday morning gathered at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar 'Ali
Saifuddien in the capital for a full rehearsal of the 23rd National
Day celebration.
At the start of rehearsals, the
hadrah (a traditional musical instrument) was beaten loudly to
rehearse the arrival of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan
of Brunei Darussalam.
This was followed by the singing of
the national anthem and inspection of the guard of honour. The guard
of honour then exited the Taman to make way for the general
assembly, where a number of patriotic songs were belted out.
Besides the march past ceremony,
there was the reading of the National Day oath.
There were also colourful themed
performances entitled "Iltizam Memperkasa Keupayaan Bangsa"
(Commitment Empowering The Nation's Capabilities) - the theme of
this year's celebration.
The rehearsals are to ensure that
performances are perfect for next Saturday's celebration. -- Courtesy of Borneo
