Valentine's Day Crackdown

Begawan - A Valentine’s Day party came to an abrupt end late
Wednesday night when some 76 officers from various local enforcement
agencies raided a restaurant in Gadong.
When the raiding party arrived, a
foreign female singer was found performing in a revealing dress with
crossdressers.
The female singer, who is under a
maid guarantor, was issued a special pass by Immigration Enforcement
officers and was told to report herself to the Immigration
Enforcement section.
Three foreign nationals were also
brought in for further investigation by Immigration Enforcement
officers but were released after their immigration passes were found
to be valid.
Officers from the Prevention and
Intelligence Division of Royal Custom and Excise Department also
found 56 cans of beer and another 28 empty beer cans along with four
bottles of liquor in one of the private function rooms of the
restaurant.
Thirteen individuals were found
inside the room and the case is still under investigation.
Meanwhile, the Brunei-Muara
District Office's licencing enforcement section took action on the
restaurant by shutting it down and cancelling its Miscellaneous
Licence (Lesen Rampaian).
After a thorough investigation, no
drugs were found by officers from the Narcotics Control Bureau and
there were no offences or cases for the Religious Enforcement
Section,
Ministry of Religious Affairs and
Crime Investigation Department of the Royal Brunei Police Force.
Codenamed "Operation Bongkar
18/2007 (Operation Bersepadu VDS)", the midnight raid involved 13
enforcement officers from Immigration and National Registration
Department, 15 officers from Royal Customs and Excise Department, 16
Police personnel including CID and Anti-Vice Unit, 14 officers from
the Brunei-Muara District Office's licencing enforcement section and
10 personnel from the Religious Affairs Enforcement Section.
The massive operation was led by
Acting Deputy Director of Immigration, together with the heads of
