Japanese Study Team Tours
Agricultural Sites

Begawan - Twenty-Three members of a visiting Japanese
Agricultural Study Team led by Mr Yoshitaka Funakawa visited the
Department of Agriculture on Monday. Most of the team members were
rice growers from the Saitama Prefectual Rice and Wheat Growers
Council.
The delegation first paid a
courtesy call on Acting Director of Agriculture, Dyg Hjh Normah
Suria Hayati bte PJDMSMDSU (Dr) Awg Hj Mohd Jamil Al-Sufri, who
briefed them on the development and status of the agriculture sector
of Brunei Darussalam, particularly the local rice industry.
Also in attendance were Acting
Deputy Director of Agriculture, HjhAidahbte Hj Mohd Hanifah,Acting
Senior Special Duties Officer Pg Hjh Rosidah bte Pg Hj Metussin and
other senior agriculture officers.
The purpose of the group's visit
was to exchange views and share information on the rice production
activities and to study the agricultural products of Brunei
Darussalam.
Showing considerable interest in
local rice production activities, the delegation later made a visit
to the Wasan Rice Project site. There, they were greeted by Awg Muda
Yusran, Head of Rice and Field Crops Development Unit, who also
briefed them on the Wasan Rice Project.
