Briefing On Biz Opportunities After Retirement
By Azaraimy

Bandar Seri Begawan - More than 50 government officers, who are about to retire from service, yesterday made a visit to the Entrepreneurial Development Centre.

The visit was aimed at introducing the officers to the centre, as well as its roles, programmes and activities. These include entrepreneurial training, business incubator programme and technology, financial support scheme and other programmes devised for members of the public who wish to start a business.

The visitors were also briefed on business opportunities in various sectors, especially within primary resources, and later had a glimpse of food processing in progress. There were visits to locations run by participants of the business incubator programmes and technology.

The Entrepreneurial Development Centre said the visit should provide the retiring officers with a general idea on running a business and business opportunities in the country. Retiree venturing into business is a "smart" move, because in business, age is not a factor, it added.

The retirees' experience in management and administration while working in the government sector could be put to good use in a business venture, said the centre.

The visit was one of- several programmes arranged by the Civil Service Institute (IPA) for retiring Division II and III government officers. The officers were undergoing a 10-day programme at IPA, which came to an end yesterday. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
