Briefing On Biz Opportunities
After Retirement

Begawan - More than 50 government officers, who are about to
retire from service, yesterday made a visit to the Entrepreneurial
Development Centre.
The visit was aimed at introducing
the officers to the centre, as well as its roles, programmes and
activities. These include entrepreneurial training, business
incubator programme and technology, financial support scheme and
other programmes devised for members of the public who wish to start
a business.
The visitors were also briefed on
business opportunities in various sectors, especially within primary
resources, and later had a glimpse of food processing in progress.
There were visits to locations run by participants of the business
incubator programmes and technology.
The Entrepreneurial Development
Centre said the visit should provide the retiring officers with a
general idea on running a business and business opportunities in the
country. Retiree venturing into business is a "smart" move, because
in business, age is not a factor, it added.
The retirees' experience in
management and administration while working in the government sector
could be put to good use in a business venture, said the centre.
The visit was one of- several
programmes arranged by the Civil Service Institute (IPA) for
retiring Division II and III government officers. The officers were
undergoing a 10-day programme at IPA, which came to an end
